On the occasion of the Klarborgnisserne's 30th anniversary,
Etly Klarborg tells:
The first gnome to get his name was the gnome Martin, who is named after my eldest son. I got the idea for that elf one evening, when Martin had come in his night clothes and was fumbling around, so the shirt slipped up a little on his little ostrich belly, and immediately I saw a little elf with the shirt up on his stomach. So it was Martin who gave me the idea of the bare bellies, their chubby shapes, round cheeks and giving them names.
Etly has redesigned Martin the elf, where he now stands with the heart, which symbolizes having the heart in everything you do and in the choices you make in life. Etly Klarborg has always designed goblins and trolls, not because she has to but because it are a part of her and they have followed her all her life.
