KLARBORG BETTE SONJA - 35TH ANNIVERSARY -2021

Etly Klarborg's second anniversary icon that has a very special place in her heart. The little pixie, Bette Sonja, is the designer's own mother depicted as a pixie girl. Sonja grew up with a wild imagination and a creative talent, which she passed on to her daughter Etly through a series of stories that became the inspiration for the designer's life's work.

My mother could tell very vivid stories about trolls and elves, and the forest floor was almost full of game fleas. When I was working in the bog with my mother, she would dig up a piece of peat soil, which I shaped into little elves with pointed hats while she worked. Those were the first elves I made, says Etly Klarborg.

She herself has no doubt that it is her mother who has paved the way for her success over the past 35 years.

– Without my mother's cozy Christmas traditions and all her fairy tales about the little elves, I probably wouldn't have the vivid imagination that I have. She taught me to be creative and gave me an adventurous and imaginative childhood, which has proven to be worth its weight in gold for me today. So I can thank my dear mother for allowing me to do what I love most, namely making elves, she says.
